Kiinteäraekondensaattoreina, often abbreviated as MLCCs, are a type of capacitor widely used in electronic circuits. They are constructed using a ceramic dielectric material layered between metallic electrodes. The term "kiinteä" refers to the solid nature of the dielectric, distinguishing them from electrolytic capacitors which use a liquid or gel electrolyte. "RAE" is a Finnish abbreviation often used in technical contexts.

The manufacturing process for MLCCs involves stacking very thin layers of ceramic dielectric and electrode material. This layered structure allows for a high capacitance value to be achieved in a small physical size. The dielectric properties of the ceramic material determine the capacitor's performance characteristics, such as its capacitance, temperature stability, and dielectric loss. Different ceramic formulations, such as Class 1 (e.g., NP0/C0G) and Class 2 (e.g., X7R, Y5V), offer varying levels of stability and capacitance density.

MLCCs are known for their excellent high-frequency performance, low equivalent series resistance (ESR), and low equivalent series inductance (ESL). These qualities make them suitable for a wide range of applications, including decoupling and bypass in power supplies, filtering, and resonant circuits in radio frequency (RF) applications. They are commonly found in consumer electronics, telecommunications equipment, automotive systems, and industrial controls.
