jäähdytyskierros
Jäähdytyskierros, often translated as "cool-down lap" or "victory lap" in English, is a specific phase in motorsport events. It occurs after the main race has concluded and the checkered flag has been waved. Its primary purpose is to allow drivers to gradually slow down their vehicles from racing speeds, reducing stress on the engine and tires, and preventing sudden mechanical failures due to rapid deceleration.
During a jäähdytyskierros, drivers typically circulate the track at a much slower pace than during the race.
