Iskukoeilla is the Finnish term for impact testing, a group of material tests that evaluate how a specimen responds to a sudden, concentrated load. These tests are used to assess toughness, energy absorption, and fracture behavior under rapid loading, and they are applied to metals, polymers, composites and ceramics to understand performance in service.

The best-known methods are the Charpy and Izod impact tests. In these tests, a notched sample is struck by a pendulum hammer (Charpy) or a similar striker (Izod), and the energy absorbed during fracture is recorded. Test conditions such as temperature, notch geometry, specimen orientation, and support setup influence the results, making standardized procedures essential for comparability.
