insomniac

An insomniac is a person who experiences chronic insomnia, a sleep disorder characterized by difficulty falling asleep, staying asleep, or obtaining restorative sleep despite adequate opportunity. Insomnia can be acute or chronic and is often accompanied by daytime consequences such as fatigue, mood disturbance, impaired concentration, and reduced functioning. Causes are diverse, including stress, medical conditions, psychiatric disorders, medications, and lifestyle factors. Diagnosis is clinical, typically based on persistent sleep difficulties for several weeks or months, and may be classified as primary insomnia or secondary insomnia when another condition contributes.
