Burbank

Burbank is a city in Los Angeles County, California, United States. It lies in the eastern portion of the San Fernando Valley, about 12 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles. Known as a center of the entertainment industry, it hosts several major film and television studios and corporate offices.

The area was settled in the 19th century and named after David Burbank, a local rancher and entrepreneur. The city incorporated in 1911. Over the 20th century, the presence of film studios contributed to rapid growth, and Burbank developed as a residential and commercial suburb of Los Angeles.

The city covers a suburban landscape with some hills and commercial corridors. As of the 2020 census, the population was around 107,000. The climate is Mediterranean, with warm, dry summers and mild, wet winters.

Burbank is home to Warner Bros. Entertainment, The Walt Disney Company studios, and Disney's animation studios, among others, making it a major center for media production. The Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR) is located in the city, providing domestic air service. Public transit includes Metrolink commuter rail and local buses served by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

The city is served by the Burbank Unified School District, including Burbank High School and Burroughs High School. Downtown Burbank is a commercial district with shopping, dining, and entertainment. The city maintains parks and cultural events, including outdoor concerts and community festivals.
