Hullmounted is a term used to describe equipment, sensors, or systems installed directly on the hull of a watercraft, rather than on masts, in-tow configurations, or deployed remotely. It is common in naval, marine geophysical, and offshore contexts. In technical literature, hull-mounted assemblies can include sonar transducers, magnetometers, or other sensing elements integrated into hull fairings or submerged housings.

Hull-mounted
sonar
offers
immediate
sensing

the
drag

deployment
logistics
of
towed
arrays,
but
it
must
contend
with
hull
self-noise,
hydrodynamic
interference,
and
reduced
performance
at
high
speeds
or
in
rough
seas.
Design
features
such
as
optimized
transducer
placement,
vibration
isolation,
and
fairing
geometry
are
employed
to
mitigate
these
limitations.

seabed
mapping,
wreck
searches,
or
mineral

hull-integrated
