Hornhautbedingter is a German medical descriptor used to indicate that a symptom, finding, or condition originates from or is related to the cornea (Hornhaut). It is not a disease name itself but a qualifier that helps specify the anatomical source of a problem. The term is commonly found in clinical notes and scientific literature and can be paired with nouns such as Beschwerden (complaints), Schmerzen (pain), Sehstörung (visual disturbance), Entzündung (inflammation), or Vernarbung (scarring).

Typical contexts include corneal surface disorders and their sequelae, where symptoms are described as hornhautbedingte, for example hornhautbedachte Schmerzen or hornhautbedingte Sehstörung. Causes can range from minor epithelial injuries, dry eye–related surface changes, and infectious or autoimmune keratitis to post-surgical surface irregularities or contact lens–related complications. The cornea’s role in focusing vision means corneal involvement can lead to pain, photophobia, tearing, and reduced visual acuity.
