Most depictions describe harvaksi as a low-growing evergreen or semi-evergreen perennial, reaching up to 15–25 centimeters. It has slender, lanceolate leaves arranged in whorls around wiry stems. The plant produces small, pale-yellow flowers in dense clusters and develops a storied underground tuber or storage root.
