gæðaplan

Gæðaplan is a quality plan used in Icelandic contexts to define how quality will be achieved and verified. It is a formal document that translates an organization's quality policy into actionable requirements for a specific project or product. The gæðaplan outlines quality objectives, the scope of quality activities, applicable standards and regulatory demands, and the criteria by which quality will be judged.

It describes roles and responsibilities, quality assurance (preventive activities) and quality control (verification activities), testing and inspection methods, acceptance criteria, and documentation practices. It includes the processes for change control, supplier quality management, risk management, training, and resources. It also sets metrics and targets, inspection and audit plans, nonconformity handling, and corrective and preventive actions.

Developed early in project initiation or product development, the gæðaplan is aligned with the organization's quality management system and is reviewed and updated as the project progresses. It serves as a reference for auditors and stakeholders and supports decision-making and continuous improvement by tracking performance against the defined quality objectives. The concept is widely used across industries, including manufacturing, software, construction, and service delivery, and it often aligns with standards such as ISO 9001.
