Geofencea is a term used in location-based services to describe a system that defines virtual geographic boundaries around real-world areas and triggers actions when a device enters, dwells within, or exits these boundaries. It is commonly used in consumer mobile apps and enterprise software to support automation, notifications, and analytics. The term may refer to a general concept in geofencing or to a specific platform or implementation in different contexts.

How it works: Geofencea relies on location data from devices, using GPS, cellular triangulation, Wi-Fi positioning, and proximity technologies such as Bluetooth beacons. A geofence is created by outlining a perimeter as a circle or polygon. When a device crosses the boundary, proximity events are sent to a backend service, which can trigger actions (push messages, system workflows, or data collection) according to defined rules and time constraints. Some implementations include dwell detection, which triggers after a device remains inside the area for a period.
