Geeses is a nonstandard plural form that some people use for the bird known as geese. In standard English, the plural is geese, and geeses is generally considered incorrect in formal writing.

Geese are large waterfowl in the family Anatidae, related to ducks and swans. They have long necks, sturdy bodies, and broad, flat bills, with webbed feet adapted to aquatic habitats. Most wild geese are herbivores, feeding on grasses, shoots, seeds, roots, and aquatic plants. They are found on every continent except Antarctica, occupying wetlands, riversides, lakes, and, in agricultural areas, fields and pastures.

Behaviorally, geese are social birds that often form seasonal flocks. Many species migrate between breeding and wintering grounds, sometimes traveling long distances. In flight, geese commonly form V-shaped formations, which help reduce energy expenditure for individuals. On the ground or water, groups are called a gaggle, while flocks in flight are described as skeins or wedges.

Reproduction involves territorial pairing for many species, with courtship displays that strengthen pair bonds. Nests are usually built on the ground near water, and clutches typically contain several eggs. Both parents incubate the eggs and care for the precocial goslings after hatching.

Domesticated geese derive mainly from the graylag goose (Anser anser) and the swan goose (Anser cygnoides). Domestic breeds are kept for meat, eggs, and feathers, and they vary widely in size and appearance.

Conservation status varies by species; while many wild geese are abundant, some face habitat loss, hunting pressure, or disease in certain regions.
