Cygnoides is a Latinized epithet used in biological nomenclature to denote “swan-like.” In scientific names it functions as the second part of a binomial name and is not itself a distinct taxon. The form derives from a root associated with swans, combined with the suffix -oides meaning “resembling” or “like.”

The best-known use of cygnoides is in Anser cygnoides, the swan goose, a large waterfowl in the family Anatidae. The swan goose is native to East Asia and is commonly found in wetlands and river basins across northern China, Mongolia, Korea, and parts of Russia. It is primarily herbivorous, feeding on grasses, seeds, and aquatic plants, and is partly migratory, forming seasonal flocks. The species has also played a significant role in the domestication of geese, contributing to certain East Asian domestic goose lineages.
