Furatkészítés, meaning "hole making" or "drilling" in Hungarian, refers to the process of creating a cylindrical hole in a solid material. This is most commonly achieved through the use of a drill bit, which rotates and removes material as it penetrates the workpiece. The process can be applied to a wide range of materials, including wood, metal, plastic, and concrete, each requiring specific types of drill bits and drilling techniques.

The fundamental principle behind furatkészítés involves applying rotational force to a cutting tool. As the drill bit spins, its cutting edges shave away material, forming a chip that is then typically cleared away by flutes integrated into the drill bit's design. The depth and diameter of the hole are determined by the length and width of the drill bit, respectively, and the duration or extent of the drilling operation.
