These spots are not part of the intended image but are rather a side effect of the device's operation.

The underlying cause of frekvensprikker is typically related to interference within the device's circuitry or with external electromagnetic signals. In analog systems, particularly those dealing with radio frequencies or high-voltage signals, unintended oscillations or noise can arise. These irregularities can sometimes be strong enough to influence the electron beam in a CRT, causing it to briefly deviate or intensify in a localized area, thus producing a visible dot on the screen.

Frekvensprikker are more commonly associated with older technologies like CRT televisions and monitors, where the electron beam scanning method was more susceptible to such disturbances.
