Forvaltningsteamet, or the management team, refers to the group of senior leaders responsible for strategic leadership and day-to-day management within an organization. The term is commonly used in Norwegian-speaking contexts to describe the top management that coordinates across departments, sets priorities, and ensures execution of the organization’s strategy.

Composition and roles vary with size and type of organization. Typically the team includes the chief executive or managing director, a financial leader such as the CFO, an operations leader such as the COO, and heads of major functions like human resources, information technology, communications, and compliance. In smaller organizations the team may be more compact, while larger ones may include additional executives or functional leaders.

Responsibilities of the forvaltningsteamet include developing strategic plans, approving budgets, allocating resources, and monitoring performance against targets. The team oversees risk management, policy implementation, and organizational change initiatives, and acts as the main forum for cross-functional coordination and decision-making. It also serves as the link between the board or owners and operational units, translating strategy into actionable plans.

Meetings and governance: The team typically meets on a regular schedule, such as weekly or monthly, and operates within the governance framework established by the board. It prepares reports, presents updates, and recommends decisions. Accountability generally flows upward to the board and downward to department heads and staff.
