Ledergruppe is a term used in Danish and Norwegian business contexts to describe the organization's internal leadership team responsible for strategic direction and day-to-day management. It represents the group of senior managers who collectively steer the organization and translate board and strategy into action.

Composition typically includes the chief executive or managing director and other senior functions such as the chief financial officer, chief operating officer, chief human resources officer, and heads of key departments or business units. In smaller firms the ledergruppe may consist of all department heads; in larger organizations it is more selective.

The ledergruppe's roles and responsibilities include setting and translating strategy into plans, aligning operations across units, allocating resources, monitoring performance, and managing risk. It also plays a central part in shaping organizational culture and leading change initiatives. Decisions on major issues are usually made within the ledergruppe, either by consensus or formal voting, depending on the governance framework.

Relation to governance is distinct from the board of directors or supervisory board. The ledergruppe implements the strategy set by the board and reports on performance and risk. It often operates with regular meetings, such as weekly or biweekly sessions, supported by agendas, minutes, dashboards, and performance data.

Variations exist across sectors. In private companies, public sector bodies, and non-profit organizations, the term ledergruppe may be equated with the executive management team or senior leadership team. While it supports coordinated leadership, effective governance requires clear decision rights and appropriate oversight to prevent issues such as groupthink or over-concentration of power.
