Flyfragt, or air freight, is the transport of goods by aircraft. It is used for time-sensitive or high-value shipments that require rapid delivery, long-distance reach, or reliability beyond what surface transport can provide. Air freight can cover international and domestic movements and is typically offered by airlines, freight forwarders, and logistics providers.

The shipment process usually involves booking with a carrier or freight forwarder, acceptance and packaging of the goods, verification and security screening, loading and in-flight transport, and arrival at the destination where customs clearance and final delivery are completed. Documentation commonly includes an air waybill, commercial invoice, packing list, and certificates of origin. Insurance is often arranged to protect against loss or damage.

Pricing in air freight is based on the chargeable weight, which is the greater of the actual gross weight or the volumetric (dimensional) weight. Volumetric weight accounts for the space the parcel occupies and is calculated using a standard dimensional factor, with the resulting weight used to determine the freight charge. Additional charges may apply for fuel, security, handling, and port or airport fees.

Air freight services vary. Standard scheduled cargo moves on regular flights and can be consolidated with other shipments to optimize capacity. Charter services use entire aircraft for a dedicated shipment and are chosen for large, time-critical, or specialized cargo. Regulations on dangerous goods and security procedures are governed by international and national authorities, and compliance with IATA and ICAO standards is common in the industry.

Typical applications include electronics, pharmaceuticals, automotive parts, perishables, and other items where speed outweighs cost.
