Fasaddelar is a term used in Nordic architecture and construction to describe standardized components that form the exterior envelope of a building. The concept focuses on modular, prefabricated facade elements designed to be interchangeable and to connect with common mounting systems, insulation, and weather protection. The term translates roughly to facade parts, with “fasad” meaning facade and “delar” meaning parts in Swedish.

Typical fasaddelar comprise cladding panels (such as metal, timber, or fiber-reinforced composites), insulation layers, vapor and air barriers, and the mounting and profile systems that attach panels to the structural frame. Seals, drainage, and protective coatings are often included, and in ventilated façades the air cavity and subframe are considered part of the fasaddelar assembly. In some contexts, integrating fenestration or shading devices into the modular system is also described under fasaddelar.

The fasaddelar approach offers several advantages, including faster construction through prefabrication, improved quality control, easier maintenance and replacement of individual components, and the ability to optimize thermal performance by standardizing interfaces. Challenges include ensuring fire safety, wind load performance, moisture management, and coordination among suppliers to guarantee compatible interfaces and installation sequences. The use of fasaddelar is common in commercial and high-rise projects and is often supported by building information modeling (BIM) for planning and procurement, as well as by relevant national and European standards governing fire resistance, airtightness, and structural connections.
