Failivahetus can refer to simple one‑to‑one transfers as well as automated, multi‑party workflows in business, research, and media environments.

Typical capabilities of failivahetus solutions include support for large and small files, resumable transfers, and reliable delivery guarantees. They often provide metadata handling, version control, access controls, and audit logging. Automation features such as scheduled transfers, event-driven triggers, and error notifications are common, along with mechanisms for integrity verification like checksums or digital signatures.

Architectures for failivahetus vary. They can be client‑server systems, where clients push or pull files to a central server, or brokered/cloud-based setups that route data between partner systems.
