extensormechanisme
The extensormechanisme refers to the anatomical system that enables straightening of the knee joint in humans. It is primarily composed of the quadriceps femoris muscle group, the patella (kneecap), the patellar tendon that connects the patella to the tibial tuberosity, and the extensor retinaculum that stabilizes the patella during movement. When the quadriceps contract, force is transmitted through the patellar tendon, producing a moment at the knee joint that extends the leg. The patella functions as a pulley, increasing the leverage of the quadriceps and enhancing the mechanical advantage of knee extension.
In normal physiology, coordination among these components allows efficient locomotion, gait, and load bearing. The extensormechanisme
Rehabilitation of extensor mechanism injuries focuses on restoring muscle strength, improving tendon flexibility, and correcting biomechanical
