Erityisosaamisalat, literally “specialized skill areas,” are categories used in Finnish education, training and employment to describe specific domains of practical expertise. The term is most commonly applied in the framework of Finland’s national competency framework, the Suunnitelma 2020–2025 and the Finnish Digital Competence Framework. It is also used by the State Secretariat for Rural Development and the Ministry of Education and Culture when setting up education programmes and career guidance.
