Embossinginkt, commonly referred to in English as embossing ink, is a type of ink used in heat embossing techniques. It is designed to remain tacky long enough for embossing powder to adhere, allowing a raised, textured image to be created when the powder is heated. Embossinginkt is typically used in craft and stationery applications such as card making, scrapbooking, and decorative printing.

Most embossing inks are water- or solvent-based and come in clear or tinted varieties. Clear embossingink is especially common because it can be used with a wide range of powders without altering the color of the underlying design. Some versions are specifically formulated as pigment inks, which can provide stronger color or different drying characteristics. The primary requirement is a sticky, slow-drying surface that accepts powder grains rather than drying quickly like ordinary inks.

Usage involves applying embossinginkt to a stamp, pressing the stamp onto the chosen substrate (such as paper or vellum), and sprinkling embossing powder over the stamped image. Excess powder is tapped away, and a heat tool is used to melt the powder, creating a raised, glossy or metallic finish. The choice of powder—transparent, pearlescent, metallic, or colored—determines the final appearance.

Embossinginkt works best on non-porous or treated surfaces to prevent rapid drying, though it is widely used on ink-absorbing papers. It is commonly used in conjunction with embossing powders and hot-stamping techniques and remains a staple in hobbyist and professional paper crafts.
