Draairing is a process intended to remove air or gas bubbles from a material or system to improve performance, stability, and quality. It is applied to liquids, pastes, or semi-solid materials where entrapped air can cause defects, porosity, or inconsistent curing. The term is not universally standardized and may be used differently in various industries; in some contexts it is used interchangeably with degassing or deaeration, while others reserve it for combined mechanical and vacuum methods.

Common methods include vacuum degassing, in which the material is placed under reduced pressure to encourage dissolved gases to come out of solution and escape; mechanical deaeration, which uses mixers, rollers, or agitators to drive air to a vent; and, in some cases, centrifugal separation or ultrasonic or thermal techniques to promote gas release. In resin casting, adhesives, ceramics, and composite manufacturing, draairing helps reduce void content, improve surface finish, and ensure more uniform curing.

In food and beverage packaging, draairing can refer to purging or degassing of liquids prior to filling to minimize headspace and oxidation. In electronic potting and coatings, it reduces bubble formation that might compromise insulation or protection.
