Desmoralização is a Portuguese term that translates to "demoralization" or "moral degradation" in English. It refers to a process in which individuals or groups experience a decline in their sense of ethics, values, or confidence. The concept is often applied to describe situations in workplaces, educational institutions, or societies where systemic factors such as corruption, abuse of power, or persistent failure diminish moral standards and civic engagement.

In organizational settings, desmoralização can manifest as low employee motivation, increased cynicism, and a reduction in collaborative behavior. Psychological research links chronic stress and perceived injustice to lowered moral outlook, which in turn may lead to unethical decision making. Sociologically, desmoralização is examined in the context of broader social inequalities and the erosion of trust between citizens and public institutions.
