Process: Dabbawalas collect the dabbas from homes in the morning, then are transported to designated sorting hubs near railway stations. From there, they are distributed to zones and delivered to recipients' workplaces by train, bus, bicycle, or on foot, with the return of empties following the same route in reverse. The entire system is known for its precision; misdeliveries are rare, with rates often described as extremely low (commonly cited around 99.9% or higher).
