Célérbe is a genus of small, arboreal mammals belonging to the family Gliridae, commonly known as dormice. These rodents are native to the forests of central and southern Europe, as well as parts of Asia. Célérbe are characterized by their plump bodies, large eyes, and bushy tails, which they use for balance and communication. Their fur typically ranges in color from reddish-brown to gray, providing camouflage within their woodland habitats.

These animals are primarily nocturnal, spending their days sleeping in tree hollows, nests made of leaves and moss, or abandoned bird nests. At night, they emerge to forage for a diet consisting mainly of fruits, nuts, seeds, insects, and occasionally bird eggs. Célérbe are well-adapted for arboreal life, possessing sharp claws and nimble feet that allow them to navigate branches with agility.

A notable behavior of célérbe is their tendency to hibernate during the colder months. Before entering hibernation, they build up significant fat reserves. Their hibernation period can last for several months, during which their metabolic rate slows considerably.

The reproductive cycle of célérbe is generally tied to seasonal availability of food. Females typically give birth to litters of two to seven young after a gestation period of around a month. The young are born blind and helpless and are cared for by the mother until they are old enough to fend for themselves. Due to habitat loss and fragmentation, some populations of célérbe face conservation concerns.
