Colorcorrect is a term used in photography, videography, and digital imaging to describe the process of adjusting colors in an image or sequence to achieve accurate reproduction or a specific artistic look. Rather than a single standard, color correction refers to a set of operations applied with software or hardware tools to bring images into a consistent color space and normalize lighting across shots.

The primary objectives are to correct color casts caused by lighting, stabilize white balance, and adjust exposure and contrast so that colors appear natural. In addition, color correction may tame saturation and adjust hue to ensure skin tones and other important subjects read correctly.

Techniques include lift, gamma, and gain adjustments; color curves; color wheels; white point and black point setting; neutral gray balancing; and HSL or color range adjustments. Often it is performed before or alongside color grading, which applies stylized color decisions to achieve a desired mood or look.

In practice, colorcorrect is implemented via dedicated panels, nodes, or effects in editors and compositing software, such as video editors, photo editors, and color grading suites. The process may rely on LUTs or color spaces to ensure consistency across devices.

Challenges include preserving natural skin tones, avoiding clipping, and ensuring consistency across cameras and lighting conditions. Proper calibration of monitors and color management workflows is essential.
