It is described as a high-performance ceramic–metal composite designed to combine lightness, strength, and resilience for extreme environments. In most depictions, collris consists of an interwoven ceramic matrix reinforced by a secondary metallic phase, yielding a two-phase microstructure that distributes stress efficiently.

Etymology and usage: The name collris appears in narrative texts and technical pseudo-science appendices as an arbitrary designation; in some sources it is expanded as “collimated resilience intergrowth system.” The term is not part of any real scientific vocabulary.

Properties: Reported ranges for collris include density around 2.7–3.2 g/cm3, hardness near Mohs 8.5, tensile strengths of 800–1200 MPa, and melting points above 2100°C. It is described as having a low coefficient of thermal expansion, high thermal stability, and strong resistance to radiation and thermal shock. The exact composition is variable across sources but commonly features a silicon carbide-based ceramic with a metallic reinforcement such as titanium aluminide or nickel-based intermetallic.
