Changeloggar is a fictional genus of arthropod-like creatures that appears in speculative fiction, tabletop role-playing games, and collaborative world-building projects as an archetype of memory and change. In-universe lore, changeloggars are solitary nocturnal beings that inhabit temperate forests and mossy limestone outcrops. They range from 20 to 30 centimeters in length and have a segmented, iridescent exoskeleton with bioluminescent setae along the margins of their abdomen. Their most notable trait is their ability to record environmental changes by slowly etching marks on their own shells and on nearby bark or rock.
