Blaberidae is a family of cockroaches, commonly known as giant cockroaches or tropical cockroaches. They are among the largest of all cockroaches, with some species reaching lengths of up to 9 cm (3.5 inches). Blaberids are found in tropical and subtropical regions around the world, often inhabiting warm, humid environments such as leaf litter, rotting wood, and caves.

Many blaberid species are known for their docile nature and slow movement, making them popular as pets and as feeders for reptiles and other animals. They are generally detritivores, feeding on decaying organic matter, plant material, and sometimes animal waste. Unlike some other cockroach species that are considered pests, blaberids are typically not found in human dwellings in large numbers, though some species may be introduced accidentally.

Reproduction in blaberids is ovoviviparous, meaning the eggs hatch inside the mother's body before the young are born live. The nymphs resemble smaller versions of the adults and undergo several molts as they grow. Many blaberids are wingless or have reduced wings, particularly the females. Their large size and relative ease of care have contributed to their widespread use in educational settings and as a food source for various animals.
