Unlike a standard driving test, which is typically performed in a car without an instructor, the begleitetest involves an experienced driving instructor accompanying the test candidate during the examination.

The concept originated as part of reforms aimed at improving road safety and reducing the number of accidents among newly licensed drivers. The test is designed to assess both the candidate’s driving skills and their ability to handle real-world driving scenarios under supervision.
