A banderoller is a roller used in banding equipment to feed, guide, and tension a band of material around a product or bundle. It is typically a component of a banding machine or integrated into a packaging line, and may interact with the band feeder, dispenser, and sealing station.

In operation, the banderoller routes the band from a coil to the product, maintains consistent tension, and helps align the band for wrapping. The roller surface is often designed to grip the band without damaging it, using knurled, grooved, or friction-fit surfaces. Depending on the system, multiple banderollers may work in sequence to control tension, alignment, and wrap angle, sometimes under servo or pneumatic control for high-speed production.

Banding applications span industries such as packaging, logistics, and manufacturing, where bundles of boxes, pallets, or other goods require a uniform band made of plastic, paper, or metal. Variants of banderollers exist to accommodate different band types, widths, and tensions, and they may be integral to full-band machines or modular add-ons.

Design considerations include material selection (often stainless steel or coated alloys for durability and corrosion resistance), surface finish to reduce band wear, and compatibility with drive systems and sensors for tension feedback. Regular maintenance focuses on bearing lubrication, surface wear inspection, tension calibration, and cleaning to prevent dust or adhesive buildup from affecting performance.
