Definition and calculation: Let c_i denote the total number of events observed in stream i during a fixed window, for i = 1, ..., n. The unweighted avgCountt is defined as avgCountt = (1/n) * sum_{i=1}^n c_i. A weighted version uses weights w_i and is given by avgCountt_w = (sum w_i c_i) / (sum w_i). This metric requires explicit specification of the window and the set of streams being averaged.

Variants and interpretation: The unweighted form treats all streams equally, while the weighted form can emphasize more reliable or more important streams. avgCountt is related to, but distinct from, rates per unit time; it aggregates counts across streams instead of dividing by time, making it useful for comparing workload across systems or periods.
