accupack

An accupack, short for accumulator pack, is a rechargeable battery pack assembled from multiple energy storage cells inside a common housing to power electronic devices. The term is widely used in Europe and in hobby communities and often appears as "accu pack" or "accupack."

Most accupacks arrange cells in series to reach the required voltage and in parallel to achieve longer runtime. Packs may include a protective circuit module (PCM) or battery management system (BMS) to monitor cell voltage, temperature, and charge state, prevent overcharge/discharge, and provide short-circuit protection.

Common chemistries include NiMH and NiCd in legacy equipment, and Li-ion and LiPo in most modern devices. Li-based packs typically use pouch or cylindrical cells with nominal voltages of 3.6–4.2 V per cell. Capacities range from tens to thousands of milliamp-hours depending on cell count and size.

Applications span consumer electronics, power tools, cordless equipment, RC models, electric bikes, and UPS backup units. Accupacks may be sold as modular replacements or preassembled by device manufacturers. Some packs integrate charging ports, temperature sensors, or fuse protection.

Handling and safety: use compatible chargers, avoid puncture, physical damage, or exposure to high temperatures; never mix different chemistries; follow disposal and recycling guidelines. Transport and regulatory standards may cover large or spare packs.
