Absorberisse (Viola absorberis) is a small, herbaceous perennial plant belonging to the violet family (Violaceae). It is native to temperate regions of central and eastern Europe, where it commonly occurs in shaded forest understories and along stream banks. The species typically grows to a height of 10–20 centimetres and features a rosette of alternate, lanceolate leaves that are dotted with translucent flecks. The characteristic flowers are solitary, star‑shaped, and symmetrical, with a vivid yellow ground color that is deepened by a prominent purple central blotch. Petals are speckled with darker veins, giving the flower a delicate "shimmer" effect in dappled woodland light. Flowering usually takes place from late spring through mid‑summer.

Absorberisse prefers moist, well‑drained loam and displays a moderate tolerance of partial shade, making it well‑suited for woodland gardens, naturalistic beds, and ecological restoration projects. Though it is not widely cultivated on a commercial scale, it is occasionally incorporated into shade‑tolerant plantings by landscape architects. There is no significant evidence indicating that the plant is of culinary, medicinal, or toxic importance; it is primarily of ecological interest for its role in supporting pollinators such as bees, butterflies, and other insect species. In taxonomy, the species was first described by the nineteenth‑century botanist Johann Werner in his work on European violets. Current botanical references classify it within the subgenus Stilbosticha due to its distinct floral morphology.
