Zusatztag

Zusatztag is a German noun formed from Zusatz (additional, supplementary) and Tag (day). It denotes an extra day added to a normal schedule, entitlement, or program. Because it is not a fixed legal term, its precise meaning varies by sector and contract.

In employment and collective agreements, Zusatztage are often used to describe extra days off or additional paid leave granted beyond statutory minimums. The number of Zusatztage and the conditions for taking them are usually defined in a company policy or tariff agreement rather than by law. They can also appear as compensatory days off in connection with overtime or altered work schedules.

In education and training, Zusatztage may refer to additional instructional days or make-up days added to a term, for example to compensate for weather-related cancellations or to extend a course. Scheduling of these days is ordinarily decided by the school administration and relevant authorities.

In event planning or program management, Zusatztage can indicate extra days added to a festival, conference, or course series to accommodate more activities or attendees.
