Zarva

Zarva is a constitutional republic located in the northern part of the fictional continent of Eldara. It has a western coastline along the Valen Sea and shares inland borders with Kalmar to the south and Ostoria to the east. The capital and largest city is Zarvale. The population is around 4.2 million, with Zarvish as the official language and several minority languages spoken in urban centers.

The name Zarva is believed to derive from an ancient local term meaning “bright valley,” a reference often linked to the region’s early irrigation settlements. The country maintains a diverse cultural heritage, with communities that preserve distinct linguistic and artisanal traditions.

Geographically, Zarva features coastal plains, rolling hills, and the Gray Peaks in the northeast. The Vira River traverses the central plain, supporting agriculture and settlements. The climate is temperate, with relatively dry summers near the coast and wetter conditions inland.

Historically, the area was settled in antiquity and later formed a unified state within a regional federation. It gained full independence in the 19th century and pursued modernization in the late 20th century. A series of constitutional reforms in the 2010s strengthened regional autonomy and judicial independence.

Politically, Zarva operates as a multi-party parliamentary republic. The president serves as head of state, while a prime minister leads the government. The legislature consists of an elected Assembly and an upper Senate, both chosen through proportional representation. The judiciary is independent, and elections are generally considered competitive and transparent.

Economically, Zarva is diversified. Agriculture focuses on grains, olives, and grapes; manufacturing includes textiles and wood products; and services cover tourism and finance. Key exports include wine, timber, and machinery. The zarvan is the currency in use. Cultural life centers on music, crafts, and regional festivals, with emphasis on education and public libraries.
