Xolo
Xolo, also known as the Mexican Hairless Dog, is an ancient breed originating from Mexico. Its most distinctive feature is its lack of fur, though a coated variety also exists. The hairless dogs have skin that is typically black, but can also be brown, liver, grey, or even blonde. Their skin is sensitive to sun and cold, requiring protection in extreme weather. Xolos are known for being intelligent, calm, and loyal companions. They are often described as being good with children and make excellent watchdogs. The breed comes in three sizes: toy, miniature, and standard. Historically, Xolos were used as companions and also for their perceived medicinal properties, with their warm skin believed to relieve aches and pains. They were also sometimes eaten. The breed's origins are thought to date back over 3,000 years, making them one of the oldest dog breeds. In modern times, Xolos are primarily kept as pets and are increasingly recognized for their unique appearance and gentle nature. They require regular bathing and skin care to maintain their health.
