XTU

Intel Extreme Tuning Utility (XTU) is a Windows-based software package developed by Intel that enables users to monitor and tune Intel processors and memory. Introduced in the early 2010s, XTU provides a graphical interface for adjusting processor parameters such as core frequency, core voltage, memory timings, and power limits, along with real-time readouts of temperatures, voltages, and clock speeds. It also includes diagnostic tools and built-in benchmarks to gauge stability and performance.

Key features include real-time monitoring, manual and automatic overclocking profiles, stress testing, and benchmarks. Users can save and switch between profiles for different workloads and hardware configurations. The software interacts with the system through motherboard firmware and drivers, and its available options depend on the CPU model, motherboard chipset, and BIOS/UEFI settings. XTU supports many mainstream Intel processors with unlocked multipliers and certain mobile platforms that permit tuning.

Usage considerations: overclocking and voltage adjustments can increase heat and power consumption and may void warranties on some systems. Improper settings can cause instability, data loss, or hardware damage. Intel provides warnings and safe operating ranges, and some OEM systems may restrict tuning. XTU is intended for enthusiasts and testers and is not a substitute for proper cooling, system design, or professional testing.
