Wysp is a fictional archipelago used in worldbuilding and maritime geography exercises. It lies in the southern reaches of the imagined Verdan Current and consists of six principal islands plus a scattering of smaller islets. The name Wysp is derived from the local term for island in the setting’s history and is often used to reference the entire group.

Geography and climate: The islands are of volcanic origin, with rugged interior highlands on the largest lands and low-lying coastal plains on the others. Combined land area is about 2,500 square kilometers. The coastline features coral reefs in shallow waters, mangroves in sheltered bays, and white-sand beaches. The climate is tropical maritime, with a warm year-round temperature, a wet season from May to November, and a drier period outside it.

Biodiversity and environment: Wysp hosts coral reefs, tropical forests, and endemic species adapted to island life. Protected areas cover roughly 12 percent of land and coastal zones. Human activity focuses on sustainable fishing, seaweed farming, and small-scale forestry; conservation emphasizes community-based management and reef protection.

Society and economy: Populations on the main islands total around 150,000 in this fictional setting. Social organization is decentralized, with island councils and traditional elders. The economy relies on artisanal fisheries, ecotourism, handicrafts, and ring-net fishery management. Transportation between islands uses ferries, inter-island boats, and occasional light aircraft.

History: Legends describe Wysp arising from volcanic activity after a great sea flood. In the modern era, the archipelago developed a loose federation of island communities with shared legal frameworks but high local autonomy.
