Wandblättern

In architecture and decorative arts, wandblättern denotes decorative elements integrated into walls, such as plaster reliefs, carved or molded plaster and wood panels, or wainscoting featuring foliate motifs. These motifs often imitate natural leaves and branches and are found in a range of periods, with pronounced use in Baroque and Rococo interiors where elaborate wall decoration aimed to convey abundance and movement.

In modern technical language, more precise terms such as wandornament, Blattwerk, or Wandpaneel are generally preferred to specify the exact form or technique of the decoration. Because wandblättern is not a standard term in contemporary architectural lexicons, its appearance usually signals a historical source or a regional usage rather than current practice.
