WIGTIGSchweißen, also known as Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding, is an arc welding process that uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode to produce the weld. The process is characterized by the use of a shielding gas, typically argon or helium, to protect the weld pool from atmospheric contamination. A filler material can be added to the joint to form the weld bead, though in some applications, autogenous welding (without filler material) is employed.

The TIG welding process offers high-quality welds with excellent control over heat input and penetration. This makes it suitable for joining a wide range of metals, including stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, copper alloys, and mild steel. Its precision allows for the creation of clean, aesthetically pleasing welds, often without the need for post-weld cleaning.
