Väljatöötlus
Väljatöötlus is the Estonian term for the forest exploitation process that includes planning, felling, logging, and initial post‑harvest handling of timber. The activity is regulated by Estonia’s forestry legislation, which requires that all operations adhere to sustainable forest management principles, protect biodiversity, and minimise landscape impacts. The main stages of väljatöötlus begin with a harvest plan that identifies which stands are to be cut, the schedule for felling, and methods for transporting the wood to processing facilities. The plan also incorporates recovery guidelines for regenerating trees, soil and water conservation measures, and consideration of the needs of neighbouring communities.
During felling, skilled loggers use chainsaws or felling machines to cut the marked trees. Safety protocols
