Estonias

The term Estonias is not an official name for a country. In English, the nation is Estonia. The form Estonias can occasionally appear as a linguistic plural or to group together various aspects connected with the country, such as its people, language, culture, and places, or in fictional contexts. It is not standard usage in geography or political discourse.

When referring to the people, use Estonians; for the language, Estonian; for culture, Estonian culture; for places, Estonia or Estonian landscapes. If a text requires a plural or thematic label, more precise phrasing is preferred.

Estonia is a Baltic state in Northern Europe. It lies on the eastern shore of the Baltic Sea, with Latvia to the south and Russia to the east; the Gulf of Finland lies to the north across from Helsinki. The capital is Tallinn. The country covers about 45,000 square kilometers and has a population around 1.3 million. It is a member of the European Union and NATO, uses the euro, and has a reputation for digital governance and a strong tech sector. Historic sovereignty dates from 1918, with Soviet occupation during 1940–1991 and restoration of independence in 1991. Notable features include extensive forests, numerous bogs, and many islands, and a rich cultural life, including the Song and Dance Festival and contemporary design.
