Vieroitussyndrooma, also known as withdrawal syndrome, refers to a group of symptoms that occur when a person who is dependent on a substance abruptly stops or significantly reduces their intake. This dependence can be physical, psychological, or both. The specific symptoms experienced vary greatly depending on the substance involved, the duration and intensity of use, and individual factors.

Common substances that can lead to withdrawal syndromes include alcohol, opioids, benzodiazepines, and stimulants. Stimulant withdrawal, such as from cocaine or amphetamines, may include fatigue, depression, increased appetite, and vivid nightmares.
