It is depicted as a vast, arid zone in the central Sahara, featuring desert plateaus, dune seas, and scattered oases. In most representations, VestSahara is sparsely populated, with urban centers clustered near water sources and along ancient and modern trade routes. The climate is hyper-arid, with extremely high daytime temperatures and scarce rainfall.

Political and administrative structures vary by work. VestSahara is commonly described as a semi-federal or confederal polity that blends traditional governance—based on oasis-based councils and nomadic federations—with modern bureaucratic institutions, electoral systems, and a rotating presidency in some depictions.

Economy and infrastructure: The economy often centers on solar and wind energy development, mineral resources such as phosphates, pastoralism, and cross-desert trade. Infrastructure ranges from solar farms and smart grids to caravan routes and, in some narratives, a limited rail corridor or high-capacity transmission lines.
