Verkossa is a fictional island nation in the North Atlantic. It comprises five main islands and numerous islets, with a temperate maritime climate and rugged coastlines. The population is approximately 1.3 million. The capital and largest city is Valmere. Verkossa operates as a constitutional semi-presidential republic.

Geographically, the archipelago lies off the northwest coast of Europe and features granite highlands, fjord-like inlets, and sheltered harbors. Its natural resources include abundant fish stocks and significant potential for wind and tidal energy.

Historically, the islands were governed by regional chieftains and maritime leagues. Verkossa is a constitutional semi-presidential republic. The President is the head of state, serving largely a ceremonial role, while the Prime Minister leads the government. The unicameral National Assembly has 60 seats and is elected by proportional representation; a cabinet of ministers is responsible to the assembly. The country is divided into seven provinces.
