Vererõhke, commonly known as high blood pressure or hypertension, is a widespread medical condition characterized by persistently elevated pressure in the arteries. This elevated pressure can damage blood vessels over time, leading to serious health problems. Blood pressure is measured in millimeters of mercury (mmHg) and consists of two numbers: systolic pressure (the top number), which measures the pressure in the arteries when the heart beats, and diastolic pressure (the bottom number), which measures the pressure in the arteries when the heart rests between beats.
