Verehüüvusriske refers to the increased likelihood of blood clots forming within blood vessels. This condition, also known as thrombosis, can occur in veins or arteries and poses a significant health threat. Several factors can contribute to verehüüvusriske, including prolonged immobility, such as during long journeys or after surgery, which slows blood flow. Certain medical conditions, like inherited clotting disorders (thrombophilia), cancer, and inflammatory diseases, can also elevate this risk. Obesity and smoking are lifestyle factors that further increase the chances of clot formation. Hormonal changes, including those associated with pregnancy, hormone replacement therapy, and oral contraceptives, are also implicated.
