Velocitybased
Velocitybased, also known as velocity-based training (VBT), is a framework for prescribing and monitoring resistance and power training by measuring movement velocity in real time. The core idea is that barbell or body-segment velocity declines as fatigue increases and typically correlates with an athlete’s readiness and maximal strength capacity. By tracking velocity, practitioners can auto-regulate load, volume, and tempo rather than relying solely on predetermined repetitions or one-repetition maximum targets.
Devices used to obtain velocity data include linear position transducers, wearable accelerometers, and camera-based motion systems.
